Awards season is in full swing. The Golden Globes, the annual show celebrating the best in film and television, takes place on Jan. 11 at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. Folks not invited to the swanky event can stay home and watch, as both CBS and Paramount+ Premium are airing the event live, beginning at 8 p.m. ET. Yahoo will also be livestreaming the event and posting up-to-the-minute updates in our live blog.
This year, there are a slew of exciting nominees, including ones for both of Wicked’s witches and dual nods for Jacob Elordi. Additionally, a fan-favorite is back to host the ceremony. Here’s what else you need to know.
Who is hosting the Golden Globes?
Comedian Nikki Glaser returns this year to host her second Golden Globes ceremony, following her emcee role at the 2025 event.
Last year, Glaser dished out digs about Zendaya’s limited screen time in Dune and teased Benny Blanco (with his permission), saying he was in attendance "because of the genie who granted him that wish," a reference to his relationship with nominee — and now wife — Selena Gomez. And though the comedian is known for having a particularly biting sense of humor (see: how she dragged Tom Brady at his roast), she said she knows when to scale back her wit as to not offend too many celebrities.
“Steve Martin sent in a joke through one of my writers. That was so nice. Then he said afterwards, 'Actually, tell her: Don't do that joke. That's too far.' And he was right,” Glaser told the Hollywood Reporter ahead of the show. “I did love the joke, but I don't think I could say that."
When does the red carpet start? How can I watch it?
Red carpet coverage kicks off in the afternoon. At 6 p.m. ET, E!’s red carpet special will air live on the E! Network and Peacock. You can also watch live on USANetwork.com, as well as the E! and USA apps.
Starting at 6:30 p.m. ET, Fire TV customers can watch Variety’s live preshow on their Fire TV home screens. It will also stream on Echo Show and Fire Tablet devices, as well as Variety’s YouTube channel and Variety.com.
Who is nominated for a Golden Globe this year?
It’s a huge night for Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another, which is nominated in the Best Picture (Musical or Comedy) category, and has eight other nods across the board, including one for star Leonardo DiCaprio. Joachim Trier’s Sentimental Value, which stars Renate Reinsve and Stellan Skarsgård, secured eight nominations.
Other film nominations people are buzzing about include Best Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy) candidate No Other Choice, a satire from South Korea that some are comparing to Parasite and Breaking Bad.
On the TV side of things, HBO’s anthology vacation series The White Lotus scored big, with six nominations. In the best supporting female actor category, three of the six slots went to White Lotus stars, with Aimee Lou Wood, Carrie Coon and Parker Posey all receiving nods.
Limited series Adolescence was also a Golden Globe favorite this year, earning five nods, including one for its 16-year-old supporting actor Owen Cooper, who won an Emmy last year for the role.
Meanwhile, Cynthia Erivo was nominated in the best female actor category for her role of Elphaba in Wicked: For Good, along with her onscreen frenemy Ariana Grande, who earned a nod in the best supporting female actor category. And Eva Victor, star, director and writer of the well-loved dramedy Sorry, Baby, was also nominated in the best female actor category.
Jacob Elordi received two nods this year: One for best supporting male actor in Netflix’s Frankenstein and another for best actor in his Prime Video limited series The Narrow Road to the Deep North. And five-time Golden Globe nominee Timothée Chalamet is also up for best actor in his anxiety-provoking ping-pong champion movie Marty Supreme.
This year also marks a brand-new category for the Golden Globes, which will honor achievement in podcasts. Armchair Expert With Dax Shepard, Call Her Daddy, Good Hang With Amy Poehler, The Mel Robbins Podcast, SmartLess and Up First are competing in the category.

While many nominees will pull double duty as presenters, such as best female actor nominee Julia Roberts, other stars will head to the Golden Globes exclusively to read names and hand out trophies. That includes Charli xcx, who is currently doing the music for Emerald Fennell’s upcoming Wuthering Heights and will star in the film The Moment.
